NewBCamp at Providence College

What is a NewBCamp? NewBCamp is a conference - or better yet, an 'unconference' - that brings people together to learn from each other about technology.

Sunday, April 19, 2009
from 9am-3pm

Feinstein Academic Center
Providence College
Providence, RI 02918

This is the NewBCamp wiki. Adam Tucker (@adamjt [twitter.com] on Twitter), Andy Shearer (@ashearer [twitter.com] ) and myself hope it encourages more people to contribute and participate in the February event :)

  • The Guide to NewBCamp 09 at PC is published! Check it out at Google Docs [docs.google.com]!
  • Agreed that guidelines are useful. We will definitely have a schedule to follow, it's just who will be presenting and what they will present on that may be spontaneous.
  • Some guidelines should be placed. Imagine if you signed up for a class and it had no subject. They'd just make it up when they got there. What would be the chances of people showing up?
  • the reason for the tracks in the first place was because the PodCamp I went to way back when had them, so I modeled it after that. It's easier too to tell people what the content is about if you can categorize the presentations.
  • There is a link to the Free Geek site - click the "Attend" button and it takes you right there!
  • tracks are too rigid for an UNconference;
    i'm just going to shoot from the hip and see where the pieces fall
  • Should there be a link to the freegeekpvd site for ticket purchases?
  • its 3am. sorry, that was too harsh.
  • Wondering whether we should ditch tracks for this NewBCamp. Always wondered what NewBCamp would be like in a true "unconference" format, without scheduled events even - figure it out as we go.
